ICU Optometry is an independent practice, firmly established in Bardon (in Brisbane‘s inner west) for 18 years. We’re proud of our reputation for quality goods and services, and we need someone with confidence, energy and enthusiasm to join our team.
We have 2 optometrists and a practice manager. The Assistant Practice Manager’s position would be in support of the Practice Manager, and would include tasks such as:
  • Booking and confirming appointments
  • Ensuring the practice remains fully stocked with sundry items (stationery etc)
  • Retail sales – frames, spectacle lenses (on-the-job training provided where necessary)
  • In-house printing of leaflets
  • Cleaning, tidying, vacuuming, filing
  • Management of patient database
The position is permanent part-time; your week is open to some negotiation and may look something like this:
  • M: 8am – 5pm
  • T: 8am – 12noon
  • W: 11am – 2pm
  • Th: off
  • F: 12noon – 6pm
  • S: (alternate Saturdays) 8am – 12.30pm
There will be times when the Practice Manager is unavailable for work; at these times the Assistant Practice Manager would be requested to fill her position temporarily. These would include the Practice Manager’s holidays, personal leave and regular days off.
Starting salary is $20/hour, which will be reviewed at 6 months.
Experience in the optical industry is preferred, but our main priorities are enthusiasm, competence, energy, flexibility and willingness to learn and to go the extra mile.
